“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” ~Maya Angelou~
IF TODAY ISN’T OK — What do we do? Do we kick our own butt (albeit it is physically impossible)? Do we let ourselves bleed until we can bleed no more? Do we feel guilty for letting ourselves (and other people) down?
One thing I found out is that when we try too hard to give our best all the time – when we try to keep things under control – when we try to put circumstances in accordance to our idea of how it should be – that is when every bit appears to be not working at all.
There is a time to hold on – and a time to let go. There is a time when we have to pick up our sword and go to battle – and a time when we have to lay down our arms and surrender.
Neither choice is easy nor is such a sign of defeat. In every decision we make, we should bear it with grace and good faith.
To whom do we need to prove ourselves? Is it necessary?
Sometimes, we should learn to listen to our own soul when it says: “Enough. I can take no more.”
Sometimes, we should learn to be tolerant of others when they seem to be unkind or inconsiderate. We do not know what difficulties they are going through. We do not know their own battles.
Sometimes, we should try harder not to judge people or circumstances. It is a cliche. But when we point one finger to someone or something, three fingers are pointing back to us.
Do not praise. Do not blame. Do not call one good and the other bad. In the conduct of life, nothing is personal.
Every little bit passes by – in a moment. Impermanent. Constantly changing. Let us not force anything in life. Be it for good reason – or bad reason. Be it a well-meaning intention or not. Don’t.
If our heart is in it, do it wholeheartedly. All or nothing.
If our heart is not in it, then pause. Stop. For what is the point of doing a noble thing when there is a grudge in our heart? Better not to do anything at all.
Soooooo, my lovelies, if today you don’t feel okay, don’t beat yourself up. Allow your human-ness and just be. Breathe.️ Rest. Stay there. Until you are ready to dance or sing once again.
